Why unionize?

Individually, faculty and librarians have little control over our working lives, but together, we have the power to create a better Miami. As a union, you and your colleagues would have the legal right to negotiate with the university on terms and conditions of your employment, including
  • Practicing shared governance that actively includes faculty in university decision-making
  • Creating transparent workload expectations and preventing exploitation by enforcing existing workload policy
  • Ensuring adequate and fair compensation for all faculty
  • Clarifying expectations around promotion and tenure
  • Increasing job security for NTT faculty
